Baby steps on the Instagator build. Frame has arrived and i´ve fitted the parts that i got. Turns out pretty damn cool. Taking a break now when summer is coming. Bike packing and family road trip for a couple of weeks.
The big issue now is wheels. I was planning to go for Surly Rabbitholes but since Stan´s Notubes reveled their 26+ Hugo rims i kind of want them. Still they are not available until October. So we´ll see how things develop…
The frame looks awesome. It´s my first Surly ever. I really like the finish. Less is more in graphics as usual with Surly. The dual drop out system makes you choose between horizontal dropouts for single speed, 135/10 QR and through 142/12 axle.
We sure got our fair share of winter and short days up here around the arctic circle. But when summer finally comes it brings the light of the midnight sun. It just doesn´t get dark for a couple of weeks. Right now the sun is at its peak. This far the summer´s had a slow start with low temperatures and rainy days.
But he bright night are awesome for trail riding. It´s been a while since we were out on the local trails. So last night we went for a little spin. We (me, the Lars and Andreas the fisherman) headed out on Kallaxheden. Sweet sandy trails among the pine trees. We gathered around 08.30 pm and headed out to a little lake, Kvarnträsket.
The simple things in life are the best. In this case. Friends, bikes and beer.
Listen to our new episode on Mountain bike radio. Me and Lars were joined by our triathlete buddy Carl-Mangnus.

For a long time i´ve been eager to explore the islands of our archipelago. A few days ago we took a trip to the nearest, Sandön. It´s located just outside the city bay. You just need to cross a little channel to get to the island that stretches around 15 kilometers out. Out new friend Anders and his new Mukluk acted guide. He also has a small dingy for transport over the channel. We don’t have tides up here in the bay of Bothina but this day the sea level was about 60 centimeters under average. Resulting in even more sand shores to explore. We took an early start when a few of us had to be back after lunch.
The weather was stunning and we got an epic ride around the island. We got 10 kilometers forest trails and 10 kilometer awesome sand riding. Check the our route on Endomondo HERE. Before hitting the dunes we headed up to a rock field in the middle of the island. Quite a cool place.
This is just the beginning of our island expeditions. There are around 1 000 island out there to explore. Restaurants and cafes on a few of them and miles of sand and rock shores.
The wet sand is packed and perfect to ride on.
Due to extremely low sea level we could ride far out on the sea bed.
Here is a little edit…
