Swedish Lapland Bike Summit – Demo version

We had some big plans regarding our bike summit in Björkliden. The idea was to have a big international event with bike pass witch included food, cabins and loads of other stuff like guided rides above the arctic circle.
But we´ve decided to move it one year forward and aiming for 2016.

However we will be up there this year anyway so we decided to have a kind of test weekend. Check the trails once more. Anyone who feels like it can come and ride with us. We sure could use the feedback.
There is a public Facebook event and every one is free to join. This year you have to make your own cabin or hotel reservation.
We will be riding the trails and would love to have more people to join.

The event takes place 3-6 of September.
Come ride with us!

Salsa 2016 line up

Salsa Cycles just released their 2016 lineup and i must say it is looking gooood!
Besides their classics like Vaya, Horsethief, El Mariachi, Mukluk, Spearfish and so on they got a few pretty awesome bikes.

Here are my favorites.

I´ve always been a fan of the Monster Cross type of bike. My Singular Peregrine is by far the one of my rides that i use the most. For commuting, gravel and trail riding. It is basically a mountain bike with drop bars or off road specific drop bars like Salsas Woodchipper or On-one Midge.

This year Salsa presents the Deadwood. A 29+ Monstercross!
Need i say i love it? I guess not.

For quite a time i´ve been convinced that bigger tires are here to stay. By bigger i don´t just mean fat. Wider rims and tires are heading to regular bikes both on and off road. The Plus standard is here to stay and i´ll bet we will see a lot more regular trail bikes with 27.5+ and 29+ wheels.

The Pony Rustler is a brilliant example. This young stallion is based on the Horsethief but got space for 27.5+ (3.0″ tires)it is also possible to ride regular 29″ wheels as long as the hubs are right.
But honestly i do not see the reason for that. Riding trails it´s all about traction and 3.0 tires is the sweet spot on a trail bike.

And then of course there is the Bucksaw. Second season for the fat bike that changed every thing. I have not yet even seen one in real life but this bike is the one that still keeps me awake at night. All the reviews and ride reports speaks of a game changer. I love riding my Mukluk, it handles very good when going fast and climbs like a goat. Ad split pivot suspension it must be a killer.

This year it comes in black! This is my next ride. Just have to make it a long term build to afford it.

I fall in love with Salsa more and more for every year. Great brand with great bikes. We also got a proper disruption in Sweden now through NordicTrade.

Love, life and friends is all that matters

I´m sitting in the office at work and writing a post about our amazing wedding last Saturday. While i´m scanning through the pictures by my good friend Fredrik at Humanspectra.com i get interrupted by a customer. An old man by the counter. He tells me his wife passed away last week and he needs a new white shirt for the funeral. We talk for a while as he tries out the size and model. He seams quite ok, smiles and leave the shop with a new shirt. While i´m watching him on the sidewalk i get very moved by the situation. I´ve been walking on clouds the last few days. So happy and thankful for having Jessica by my side and for the two kids we created together. For all of our amazing friends and family.
Our journey has just begun and life lies ahead of us. Meeting a man on the other side of life journey really makes you think.

Struck by the moment and realizing how short life is i had to call Jessica just to hear her voice and tell her i love her. She was busy with the kids riding her bike to a new café that just opened just where we live. All the noise in the background, laughing kids, the wind in the phone, her voice a bit stressed holding the bars with one hand and the 4 year old on the trailer behind. That, is life happening right there. We´re in the middle of it and it´s short. Lets make the most of it. Live, love and ride bikes.

Here are some pics by Fredrik from our wedding. 115 guests, dragshow, burlesque strippers and clowns. All you need to make a kick-ass wedding. I want to thank everyone who made it one of the best nights of our life. I love you all so much! Without our friends we´re noting.

Why do we fall? So we can get up again.

I have no idea how i would react if i got injured ending up being paralyzed. I just can´t imagine not to be able to walk or having a life with no sight or anything that makes me not do what i do. Maybe i would be depressed and live my life in bitterness and pain. Maybe i would fight it and to the best of the only life i got.

In september 2013 trials legend and superstar Martyn Ashton broke his spine leaving him paralyzed. Ashton was one of the riders in Road Bike Party 2 and honestly i did not now he had an accident until this popped up on youtube.

P1030962A few years ago i was privileged to voluntary work with people with disabilities as a ski instructor. I went on a one week course i Åre at a amazing place called Totalskidskolan. Here i learned that everything is possible. Everybody can ride.
I once taghut a guy paralyzed in a snow mobile accident riding sit ski. He was an ex snowboarder. And to see him back in the slopes was just an amazing moment. Un fortunately i don’t have the time to do this anymore but it is something i really want to do again.

To have the will and courage to get back on two wheels after getting hurt is truly astonishing. The smile on his face and the support from friends is just unbeatable.

I lift my hat for everyone who is struggling out there and thanking them for reminding me how lucky i am to have life and my health. I only wish i could be like you if something would ever happen to me.
